Handicapable

My perspective on people who use assistive devices (canes, walkers, etc.) has changed.  A person who uses an assistive device has had to overcome a huge challenge to reach the current status of ambulating with assistance, so one can see this person as kind of a warrior, and a hard worker.  I used to label a person using a walker as a "disabled" person.  Now, as I primarily use my wheelchair to mobilize, I have a completely different opinion on the use of assistive devices.

I find it funny how names fall into a certain generation.  You would have a difficult time finding someone named Mildred, or Bertha under the age of 30. I'll change "under the age of 30" to "alive".

Book Review

I'll provide a book review for a book I started to read for Book Club in therapy, and then stopped reading the book once I realized how much the book sucked.  The author had a car accident in which he sustained a brain injury.  The books contains incorrect use of possessive words.  This book uses "their" to describe a situation experienced by one person.  My English teacher taught me in middle school not to do this.  Reading this made me, literally, nauseous.  The author sucks.  Most critics praise the book, because the story tells the tale of recovery from drain damage, and I suspect most people feel bad about the suffering the author had to sustain to recover from brain damage.  I have a brain injury, and I don't feel bad for no one.  The book is called Surviving Black Ice.  Don't read this book, unless you want an example of how not to write.

I have often wondered about the composition of a cat's brain.  Since cats clearly have no language, how do cats think?  Why do cats run around unjustifiably?  Maybe my kitten just does that.
