dis·a·bled [dis-ey-buhld] Show IPA adjective 1. crippled; injured; incapacitated.

My dad's friend has a daughter and that daughter has a fiance who has cerebral palsy. My dad and I saw my dad's friend with his daughter's fiance at a Rutgers' football game the other day. This man with cerebral palsy has a very friendly personality. Afterward, my dad told me this guy never backs down from a challenge. This man has always lived with a "disability", and thus he has become accustomed to facing challenges. I once thought of having a "disability" as looking weak. Actually, the opposit is true. I once had triathletes and marathoners as heroes. Now, I think I have "Special Olympic" athletes as heroes. These athletes have to face challenges in everyday life, along with self-imposed challenges. I once thought I was on the trail of running again. I now think I'm a strong person who faces challenges everyday while trying to do the best I can, and running again will just be a result of my hard work. Don't ever call me "crippled" or "incapacitated". I am injured, but aren't most people?
